Rewind

Opera UCT presents Rewind, an original opera inspired by Tshepiso Moropa’s artwork, exploring themes of archival practice, memory and the act of looking back in order to move forward.

Directed by Jeremy Silver and featuring Molly Dzangare, the performance brings together opera and visual art in the intimate setting of THK Gallery, creating a unique dialogue between sound, space and image.

As South Africa’s oldest opera training and performance institution, Opera UCT has launched the careers of many of the country’s most celebrated opera singers, who have gone on to perform on some of the world’s leading stages across Europe and the United States. Rewind offers audiences the opportunity to experience the next generation of exceptional operatic talent at the beginning of their journey.
