Heat Winter Arts Festival was established in 2024 to boost visitors to galleries in the city centre and to create another platform for live performances during winter.
Art galleries, arts practitioners and performers experience a lull during this season due to the inclement weather and fewer tourists.
Through our themed programme we have created the context for galleries, artists and performers to generate interesting work that resonates with our times. The festival has also united art galleries and venues that are walking distance from each other, as well as creating relationships between art, music, digital art and theatre.
We focus on small arts businesses, emerging artists, live performers, musicians and singers. Our aim is to support young cultural producers and those who help create visibility for them, while maintaining a strong commitment to high-quality programming.
The HEAT Winter Arts Festival connects audiences with high-quality art and performances while celebrating rising talent.
Our aim to establish an annual event that will grow in terms of participants, programming and audiences serving as a yearly cultural highlight to encourage local and international audiences to visit the art node in Cape Town’s city
centre in winter.
