Delete Nton’ntoni

‘Delete Nton’ntoni’ is a contemporary art exhibition inspired by the Ctrl+Z concept, the act of undoing to rethink and recreate. The term “Nton’ntoni” comes from isiXhosa, loosely translating to “and so forth”, “et cetera”, or “something like that”. It reflects habitual repetition, the default mode of doing things without questioning them. This exhibition calls for a conscious interruption of that cycle. In the contemporary art scene, particularly in Cape Town, we have observed a growing culture of individualism among Black African artists. While individuality is powerful, it has also led to creative silos. Delete Nton’ntoni proposes a reset: a return to dialogue, collaboration, and shared creative presence. This exhibition is not just a showcase of artworks; it is a statement of collective intention. Artists include Tafadzwa Tega, Lwando Dlamini, Knowledge Marongedza, Luyanda Mkhuthungu.
