TALK: Iliso’s Pan-African Hangout
genre / Arts & Culturetime: 11:00-12:00
venue: Alliance Française du Cap
iLiso Magazine presents a special edition of its Shifting Ground and Hangout Sessions, a dynamic platform for creative exchange, critical dialogue and collaborative learning. This edition brings together artists, writers, curators and cultural practitioners from across the African continent who are living and working in Cape Town, creating space for new conversations, connections and ideas.
The programme combines co-creative curriculum building, collective reading sessions and crit sessions where participants share works in progress and receive thoughtful feedback from their peers. Designed as an incubator for emerging artistic practices and curatorial thinking, the sessions encourage experimentation, reflection and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Founded in 2018, iLiso is an independent research, archival and publishing project dedicated to exploring the depth and significance of Black cultural production. Through publishing and public programming, it engages with fields as diverse as aesthetics, politics, philosophy, literature, architecture and cultural theory across the African continent and its diaspora. Its pedagogical approach extends beyond the printed page through roundtable discussions, symposia, reading groups, film screenings and workshops, fostering spaces where critical thought and creative practice intersect.
